The Ethics of Accomodation Series 1: Become a Better Disability Ally as MSU Educators

Michigan State University’s Center for Ethical and Socially Responsible Leadership, STRIDE Center, Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities, and the Office of Faculty and Academic Staff Development have partnered to organize a four-part series on the “Ethics of Accommodations.” This series aims to unite faculty and students in discussing best practices for accommodating students with disabilities, incorporating diverse perspectives from both groups.

The series is supported by the Creating Inclusive Excellence Grant provided by the Office for Institutional Diversity and Inclusion.

To facilitate the incorporation of diverse voices, this spring we are offering the following events:

Panelists of MSU educators and students will share insights and resources for how educators can better advocate and support students with disabilities through accommodations.

Part B: Community Conversation

Continuing the conversation initiated by the previous panelists.


Series 2: Survive and Thrive as MSU Students with Disabilities

Part A: Panel Discussion

Mar 6 (Wed) 4:30-5:30, Broad College Multi-Purpose Rm


Panelists will share insights and resources on how students can navigate disability services and request accommodations.

Part B:Community Conversation

Mar 20 (Wed) 4:30-5:30 Broad College Multi-Purpose Rm


Continuing the conversation initiated by the previous panelists.

The first session in each series is a panel discussion where MSU educators and students will share insights and resources for how faculty can better advocate and support students with disabilities through accommodations. Following each panel session will be a “community conversation” that will capture audience voices.

Free boxed lunches will be provided for registered participants.

We will be recording both events, and our goal is to produce short best practice videos. You can help contribute to making MSU an inclusive environment for individuals with disabilities.
