Lesley Comer is the Associate Director for Institutional Space Planning and Management in the Office of the Provost at Michigan State University. She works at the intersection of capital project planning and governance, budget planning and administration, and data analytics. Her efforts span across the institution and require an ecosystem lens that is both current and forward looking and must consider strategic planning, policies and procedures, resource needs and constraints. She focuses on bringing stakeholders together from all corners of the institution with varying interests, needs and resources to plan for space and capital projects and aligning those projects with institutional priorities. Lesley oversees university-wide capital planning and space and facilities budget activities, space data management and analysis, and capital project governance. As part of that work, she initiated and co-chairs the Capital Projects Administrative Planning Work Group, leads the process for capital project funding plans, and facilitates the institution’s space and facilities annual planning cycle. Prior to her career in higher education, Lesley worked in corporate retail financial roles. Lesley is an active member of the Higher Education Facilities Management Alliance (HEFMA) and National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO). She holds an M.S. from the Ohio State University and a B.S from the University of Illinois.
